New England Seafood International (NESI) is a major supplier of fresh and frozen premium sustainable fish and seafood in the UK and one of the largest importers of fresh tuna. NESI’s customers are the UK’s leading supermarkets including Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose as well as smaller retail outlets, restaurant chains food service markets and wholesale sectors nationwide.
The founding entrepreneur has been looking for significant growth. Whetstone was engaged by the management during 2012 and again in 2013 to explore and advise on the potential for European expansion and the addition of a new specialisation in the sushi sector.
As a result, the company has established a JV with a leading French supplier and established a new trade brand, Joii Sushi which is showing early signs of strong performance.
